paul Chunder Roy, m.d., Bengal Medical Service, about ten years ago, drew prominent attention to the powerful action of Papaya juice as a solvent for albuminous tissue, considerable attention has been attracted to the subject with the view of utilizing the ferment. About five years ago, Rossbach, who termed the ferment Papayotim, advocated its use as a topical application in diphtheria in the hope of destroying the local exudation. A number of observations had been made, but no very definite results obtained. Recently, however, W. Dreyer has treated forty cases with this sub stance in the Vladimir Children's Hospital at Moscow.
